Milton Caraglio hit the post for Arsenal after 29 minutes.
Velez Sarsfield maintained their unbeaten start to the season in a match against Arsenal, that will hardly live long in the memory.
It might have done for Milton Caraglio though had his swerving shot from distance found the bottom corner rather than striking the upright in the 29th minute.
In truth the shot wasn’t the sweetest Caraglio will ever hit, but it surprised everyone and came within a lick of paint of giving the away side the lead.
Fabian Cubero had the home side’s best chance of the game. But although his reactions were sharp, his finishing wasn’t as he saw his header fly wide of the Arsenal goal in the 61st minute.
In the 70th minute Papa had a great chance to score, but he snatched at the ball and his shot flew high and wide.
With shotting like that the game seemed destined to finish without a goal.
And it did! The scoreless draw meansVelez Sarsfield drop to third, level on points with early leaders Atletico Rafaela and Estudiantes.
